Popular workout program P90X has a second-generation offering that has recently been put on the market. The P90X2 is a continuation of sorts, moving forward from the fitness gained by the original method. It is a great tool for many people, but like most fitness programs, has pros and cons to be considered.
Similarly to the previous version, the new program offers a 90-day program to get to your best fitness level. The program was designed to fit into the existing workout system as a ‘next step.’ However, people who have not used the P90X can also get some good use out of the new program, so long as they meet certain requirements.
The program is intended for those who are at a high level of fitness. If you have not completed the P90X program, which is the basic assumption made, you should be at a comparable level of fitness. Easier steps are available in each of the workouts, but even at a reduced level, it is an advanced program. For people at lower levels of fitness, a more beginner-friendly program might be better.
There are three options for purchasing the new program. The basic program includes 12 workouts on DVD or Blu-ray, nutrition and fitness guides, and a workout calendar. If you choose a more complex option, there are more tools included, such as a stability ball, medicine balls, and two more extreme workouts.
The equipment actually required for the program is fairly minimal and does not take up much space. However, storing the recommended equipment can require more places to keep them. The required equipment comprises some sort of dumbbells, other weights, or resistance bands, as well as some way to do pull-ups. People sometimes install a pull-up bar on an interior door frame to meet this need. Recommended equipment includes medicine balls and a stability ball, which takes up a fair amount of space.
Larger and taller people trying to use the included stability ball from the deluxe packages may find it too small. Pull-ups are often done on bars installed in a doorway, but again, this may not be an option for very tall people. Jumping can be an issue for anyone who shares walls or floors with others, such as those living in apartments.
Fitness programs that work offer good workouts, but are also practical and offer advice on other aspects of healthy living. The P90X2 does a pretty good job of all of these, but has some potential drawbacks for certain groups of people. Those with a good baseline level of fitness who have suitable space to do the workouts will probably find it the most rewarding.
There’s good and bad with every workout routine. P90X and P90X2 just so happen to be two of the best programs sold today. There’s more muscle confusion exercises in these two workouts to last a very long time. Start with P90X and move on to it’s unprecedented brand new sequel P90X2.
